Carey was a fashion model. She stands almost 5'10" tall, and was popular among top American designers such as Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, etc. Her father is a distinguished geologist, who was awarded Scientist Of The Year 1979 by the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Carey traveled all over due to her father's work. After she graduated from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs, she started to do modeling as a side. It caught the attention of an agent at Ford Model Agency New York. After moving to France and briefly lived between Paris, Bordeaux and New York, she decided to go back in New York and continue her studies. In the next few months, Vogue, Glamour and other magazines included her on the covers. When she was modeling and continued to pursue her studies in full-time a major in literature at New York University. Gradually she became interested in acting and attended the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York. She made her acting debut through a tiny character in 'Club Pardise" in 1986, starring Robin Williams. She is a rock climber ski, windsurfing, and skiing.
